                                             FRIEND

                                  A friend is a person
                               to laugh and cry with,
                                       An inspiration,
Someone who lends a helping hand,
though friends may not be forever,
And they may not end up together,
the memories of a true friendship will

                                          last forever.
A friend is not a shadow or a servant
                                        But someone who hold
a piece of a person in his heart.
                               Someone who shares a smile,
Someone who brightens up your day

What makes a person a friend?
Is by saying your Love will stay

Friendship is a personal relationship shared between each friend for the welfare of other, in other words, it is the relationship of trust, faith and concern for each other feelings. It is a relationship of mutual caring and intimacy among one another. A friend is one who knows you as a person and regards you for what you are and not what he or she is looking in a good friend. Best friend is one who accepts the good as well bad qualities of his friend and also takes an initiative in correcting and mending them. Friendship is a distinctive kind of concern for your friend; it is a relationship of immense faith and love for each other. Friendship is all about how much you care and understand each other. It is a pure relationship, which would make your friend smile, feel good as to how much you love him and care for him. It is all about talking, listening and building up a strong relationship loyalty among each other. It is string of love which develops gradually with each others involvement. In certain cases friendship may not last for a longer period and might end up or lose its prime importance of love and regard for each other. There are some friendships which might end with unresolved conflicts and tiffs which mean that this type of relationship were not so strong that could hold on their own in adversity and bad times. Friendship is not about merry-making and fun it involves equal loyalty from both the partners. It should be understood that not all friends are best friends. One might come across numerous number of friends in his life but there are very few who will be their during your ups and down. How one should recognize your best friend the one who will understand your strengths and shortcomings and would be with you in all your good and bad phases of life.

A true friendship does not consist of a huge number of friends you keep but it is valued by its worth and capability to hold you and stand by you in all phases of life. That said finding a best friend from among your friends is the hardest task to do. A lot of people say that the best friends automatically come closer from among a group of friends and you will never have to make an extra effort to do find one. That is how the strong bond between true friends is formed.

Nepal is roughly trapezoidal(quadrilateral having two parallel sides,800 km long and 200 km wides, with an area of 147.181 sq.km. it is divided into three regions they are :hill, mountain and terai.Formerly Nepal  was a kingdom but recently it has been declares the federal democratic republic.

                                                                              History of Nepal

The History of Nepal is characterized by its isolated position in the Himalayas and its two dominant neighbors, India and China. Even though Nepal’s heart land was independent through most of its long history, its territorial boundaries have varied greatly over time and internal mosaic of kingdoms restructured often: right from the period of Mahajanapadas, through Greater Nepal to the British Raj.

Due to the arrival of disparate settler groups from outside through the ages, it is now a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-lingual country. Its population is predominantly Hindu with significant presence of Buddhists, who were in majority at one time in the past. Nepal was split in three kingdoms from the 15th to 18th century, when it was unified under a monarchy. The national language of Nepal is called ‘Nepali’, a name given – long after unification of Nepal – to the language called Khas Kura.

Nepal experienced a failed struggle for democracy in the 20th century. During the 1990s and until 2008, the country was in civil strife. A peace treaty was signed in 2008 and elections were held in the same year.

Many of the ills of Nepal have been blamed on the royal family of Nepal. In a historical vote for the election of the constituent assembly, Nepalese voted to oust monarchy in Nepal. In June 2008, Nepalese ousted the royal household. Nepal was formally known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, when it became a federal republic.

Nwaran, name giving ceremoney,  is the ritual that  is performed on the  11th  day of  a newly born child according to Hindu religion. In that day, all the relatives of the child come to see him/her so I also went to the nwaran ceremony of my cousin sister. First I saw newly born sister’s face than met relatives. Then we put tike and received money. It wasn’t so intersecting for me because there we just talked and sat . But I wanted to watch TV but there was no television. I played and sat with my sister. We ate a lot. We talked for sometime. While doing puja pundit kept the name of the sister-Geeta Devi and mama also gave her  a name-Pramangjana. One of my aunt was coming there, first she told that she would come at 2pm then 3 pm and at last at 4pm. Then she came near Gorkha f.m. at 4pm. Then we went there to bring her. After some hours it was late for us because we had taken grandfather also. So we went outside to take taxi and we went to room. While coming home my brother and I wanted to go by motorcycle but mother told us to go buy taxi. But at last we went by motocycle. In that topic there was discussion for sometime. Then we came to home. This is how we celebrated my cousin sister’s nwaran.

Before my vacation, I used to think that my vacation would be very fantastic. During those days I used to feel very sleepy but now days I wake up at 6:00 p.m. after my exam finished, I was very happy for some days only wanted to go to many places, meet relatives. And I was worried about my exam. I was missing my friend too. Sometime I think that going to school are very intersecting days but sitting at home are very boring days .In vacation I am watching some good movies. They are very fantastic and romantics. In vacation, I am taking tuition class also. Someday my brother and mother went outside because I should because I should look after my grandfather that was also nice but to watch TV there is no electricity, to play no friends and to buy things no money. This is very strange situation. So I can’t tell whether my vacation before my new session is nice or boring.

Pashupatinath temple

imagescopy-protectionPashupatinath temple  is a Hindu temple located on the shores of the Bagmati river in the eastern part of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The temple served as the seat of national deity, Lord Pashupatinath, till Nepal was secularized. The temple is listed in UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site list [1]. Believers in Pashupatinath (mainly Hindus) are allowed to enter the temple premises. Non-Hindu visitors are allowed to have a look at the temple from the other bank of Bagmati river. It is regarded as the most sacred temple of Shiva (Pashupati) in Nepal

Pashupatinath is the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. According to Nepal Mahatmaya and Himvatkhanda [2], one day Lord Shiva grew tired of his palace atop Mt. Kailash and so went in search of a place where he could escape to. He discovered Kathmandu Valley and, without telling anyone, he ran away from his palace and came to live in the Valley. He gained great fame there as Pashupati, Lord of the Animals, before the other gods discovered his hiding place and came to fetch him. He disguised himself as a majestic deer and would not help the other gods when they asked for his help. When Shiva did not yield to their pleas, they planned to use force. Vishnu grabbed him by his horns and they shattered into pieces. Vishnu established a temple and used the broken horns to form a linga on the bank of the Bagmati River. As time went by, the temple was buried and forgotten. Then a cow was known to have secretly sprinkled her milk over the mound. Apparently, when the cow herders dug around the spot, they found the lost lingas and again built a temple in reverence. However, Shiva once more escaped from Mt. Kailash and came back to the valley as a Kirati hunter. Parbati, his wife, followed him disguised as a beautiful huntress. Shiva tried to seduce her, discovered who she was and returned home shamefully.

The priests who perform the services at this temple have been Brahmins from South India since the time of Malla king Yaksha Malla [3]. This tradition is supposed to have started by the request of Adi Shankaracharya who sought to unify the different states of Bharatam (Unified India) by encouraging cultural exchange. This procedure is also followed in other temples around India which were sanctified by Adi Shankaracharya.

Another interpretation is that Indian priests are stationed at Pashupatinath because when the King passes away, the entire Nepali people are supposed to stop religious services and enter a year long period of mourning and as Pashupatinath needs to be eternally worshiped, Indians were brought in to make sure that Pashupatinath is worshiped even at the time of official mourning.

The ancient Hindu festival of Holi falls on late February or on early March. Allegedly named after the mythical demoness Holika, it is a day when the feast of colours is celebrated. The festival is of a week. However it’s only the last day that is observed by all with colours. Phagu is another name for Holi where Phagu means the sacred red powder and Pune is the full moon day, on which the festival ends. People can be seen wandering through the streets either on foot or on some vehicle, with a variety of colours smeared over them.

Families and friends get together and celebrate the occasion with a lot of merry making. This spring time celebration is also an outburst of youthful exuberance in which throwing colours and water bolloons (lolas) on passer- by is acceptable. But, the Indian community, that is, the Marwari class who have settled down in Nepal for centuries and the people of Terai celebrate it a day later with more pomp and ceremony.

BIHAR

Holi is celebrated with the same fervour and charm in Bihar as in rest of north India. Here too, the legend of Holika is prevalent. On the eve of Phalgun Poornima, people light bonfires. They put dung cakes, wood of Araad or Redi tree and Holika tree, grains from the fresh harvest and unwanted wood leaves in the bonfire. Following the tradition people also clean their houses for the day.

At the time of Holika people assemble near the fire. The eldest member or a purohit initiates the lighting. He then smears others with colour as a mark of greeting. Next day the festival is celebrated with colours and lot of frolic.

In Shantiniketan the abode of Tagore celebrates Dol in a unique way. It welcome the season ‘Basanta’ with music and dance and early morning ‘Path’. Young girls wear yellow saris and perform dance in around the ‘ashram’ to the song of Tagore’s ‘Khol dar khol’.

Three women having played Holi with colours, share some happy moments afterwards.

Bengalis celebrate Holi as Dol Yatra or the swing festival where the icons of Krishna and Radha are placed on swings and women sing devotional songs, throw colours and ‘abir’ on them and perform dances as devotees take turns to swing them

Traditional delicacies are prepared in advance and served while playing Dol Purnima. People visit each others houses and savor the delicious dishes, be it the famous Rossogolla or the preparation of ‘Malpoa’ (a dessert made of flour, milk, sugar and dry fruits). The colour, noise and entertainment that accompanies the celebration of Dol Purnima bears witness to the feelings of oneness and a sense of brotherhood and goodwill. The spring air is still cool, the water cold, but revelers make a special punch of an intoxicant called bhang, which is mixed in milk, to add to the festivites.

: Barsana is the place to be at the time of Holi. Here the famous Lath mar Holi is played in the sprawling compound of the Radha Rani temple. Thousands gather to witness the Lath Mar holi when women beat up men with sticks as those on the sidelines become hysterical, sing Holi Songs and shout Sri Radhey or Sri Krishna. The Holi songs of Braj mandal are sung in pure Braj Bhasha.

Holi played at Barsana is unique in the sense that here women chase men away with sticks. Males also sing provocative songs in a bid to invite the attention of women. Women then go on the offensive and use long staves called lathis to beat men folk who protect themselves with shields.

In Mathura, the birth place of Lord Krishna, this day is celebrated with special puja and the traditional custom of worshipping Lord Krishna.
